#SmashTheRecord (96 Singles Entrants) – 8/22/2014, Orlanda, Florida

Gaming Knights’ Gahtzu played Super Smash Bros. Melee for 72 hours during the weekend to break the Guinness World Record for “Longest Video Games Marathon Playing a Fighting Game.”

Gaming Knights raised $13,902.50 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!! Everyone who showed up helped by donating (venue fee/tourney fee) to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The online warriors are those who really helped out mostly with donations. There was about a 30-minute window where Gaming Knights raised $5,000+!!

They will be looking to host a similar event to this one in 2015

The Tunes Tuesdays Weekly # 8 (28 Singles Entrants) – 8/19/2014, Red Bank, NJ

Tunes this week was smaller than usual with 28 singles entrants (The arcade’s local players have been enjoying repeat 40 man brackets for the past couple of weeks). However, this competition was still ridiculous with New Jersey’s finest in attendance including Swedish Delight, Qerb, Jsex and the return of Eggm!
Eggm, going all fox, ultimately defeated Swedish Delight in 2 closely matched grand finals sets where Swedish alternated between Sheik / Peach.

Japan Expo Smash (16 Singles Entrants) – 8/23/2014, San Mateo, CA

Japan Expo 2nd Impact was held over the weekend at the San Mateo Event Center. We had an open bracket to expo-attendees, but the real hype happened when we invited 16 of our top 20 ranked players in NorCal to participate in an invitational tournament. MIOM|PewPewU plowed his way through the tournament without dropping a set, with MMG|Shroomed close behind him. MIOM|Toph came in with some astounding play while BizzarroFlame reminded us why he used to be ranked with some incredible sets and will be potentially ranked again with Ganon. It was a great tournament that drew crowds from the expo-attendees to see what the hype was.
