Avalon IV was the biggest Avalon yet with more than 120 people in the venue and over €1000 in prize money, on the same day as EVO.

The Beach House 8 (64 Singles Entrants) – 7/12/2014, Howell, Michigan
A Michigan Local featuring 64 entrants, 20 teams and a new stage-list without Pokemon in singles and KJ64 in doubles! There were a ton of upsets at this tournament including breakout performances from RyeJew and Dark Louis, taking home 3rd and 5th respectively. The Michigan scene is larger than ever before and improving rapidly, heads up other regions.

Throwdown Thursdays #3 (45 Singles Entrants) – 7/10/2014, Toronto, ON
The third edition of Toronto’s Weeklies hosted at A&C Games. The top 3 were pretty standard: KirbyKaze beat Idea twice, and Weon-X beat KirbyKaze twice (although their Grand Finals set did go to game 5).
This was Scidadle’s first tournament after moving to Ontario from Florida. The Mario main had a great first showing with wins over Hello, Bernal and Desh. Rival also had a strong bracket run, defeating Gabe, Navatar and Drolian before losing to Coolhat.

Princeton Weekly #2 (27 Singles Entrants) – 7/12/2014, Princeton, NJ
The East Coast’s newest weekly returned for round 2 last Saturday night! With many top players gone to try their chances in Vegas, including defending champion C!Z, the door was opened for the field of 27 to vie for first place. In the end though, Icer once again double-eliminated Smelly Cat and was crowned a champion, despite Smelly’s infamous use of the oft-forgotten Gentleman’s Clause which led to a Grand Final’s that hearkened back to the days of 2003. This week also featured a rare appearance by the elusive Javier, and an upset victory by Emanon over Zen | KoSa to help him secure his first top 5 finish.
