Get On My Level 2015 (224 Singles Entrants) – 5/30/2015, Toronto, ON, Canada

Get On My Level 2015 was the largest overall Smash Bros. tournament in Canada, with 388 competitors across Melee and Wii U. Both games were capped and both reached those caps weeks before registration closed.
Long story short: Hungrybox ran a train on Canada. His only real challenger was Hax; their 3-2 Grand Finals set went down to the wire. Unsurprisingly, KirbyKaze was again the highest-placing Canadian, and his 3-2 loss to Hax in Winners Semis was just as close as Grand Finals. (Their Losers Finals runback, however, was not such a nail-biter.) MacD rounded out the top 4, losing only to KirbyKaze and Hungrybox.
Other notable sets include The Moon vs. Saus, KirbyKaze vs. Kalamazhu, Vwins vs. RaynEX, and Sauc3’s string of sets on the Losers side of Top 16, ending at the cruel hands of Michigan’s purplest Samus.
Despite its overwhelming size, GOML 2015 was also one of the smoothest run tournaments Canada has ever seen. Shoutouts to head TOs Joe Cribari (EMG | Toronto Joe) and Kyle Charizanis (EMG | idea) as well as the many other people who made the event possible: Seena Sadeghpour (TOMB | Hello), Aaron Grandison-Vargas (EMG | BlackTwins), Nathan Zinom (Nate$), Adnan Ahmadzai, Emilio DeGuzman…the list goes on.

BAM 12: White Marth’s Burden (70 Singles Entrants) – 5/30/2015, San Carlos, CA

BAM 12: White Marth’s Burden saw a number of NorCal’s best check their privilege in the teams portion of the event, electing to pair with some lesser known players. However Alan and L shamelessly joined forces to take first place, with rising star Ralph and his partner Mikkuz taking second place.
The tournament also experimented with a shorter timer. All singles and doubles matches had a 6 minute timer. The timer had little effect on most matches. However a notable exception was Alan vs SFAT in Winners Round 5. In a display of hubris and brazen arrogance SFAT brandished his Samus in bracket. His comeuppance– enduring being timed out in dreamland en route to an early date with losers bracket . Other notable winners bracket results included L defeating HomemadeWaffles and Azusa defeating Laudandus.
The losers side saw Dizzkidboogie, NYC resident and NorCal native, make a strong run, defeating NMW, Ralph, and L. He ultimately fell to SFAT, who recovered his sanity in losers and returned to his main (Fox).
After defeating Azusa in Losers Finals, SFAT dispatched Alan in Grand Finals. When questioned about his performance Alan said “❤️I got exposed in grand, but I exposed Zac’s fraudulent ass Samus.”

Smash for Smiles: UW (48 Singles Entrants) – 5/30/2015, Seattle, Washington

Smash for Smiles: UW was a charity tournament hosted by Operation Smile and the University of Washington’ s Smash Club. The 48 man bracket featured 7 of Washington’s PR members: falcopro23 (who bears a striking resemblance to Silent Wolf), Bladewise, ThePrime, eBay, OutTheCuts, Vino, and Mike Lau were all in attendance.
After losing 3-2 to falcopro23’s Falco in Winner’s Semis, Vino came back in Loser’s Finals and played him again, winning the runback 3-1 with his immaculate, calculated Jigglypuff play. Bladewise then quickly dispatched Vino’s puff with his deadly Peach to win the tournament!
UW Smash is becoming renowned in the PNW for bringing the hype with fun events and fearsome competition, and this event was no exception. UW crew battled the up and coming scene from Seattle University for charity, and UW emerged victorious with 2 stocks remaining.
Operation Smile and UW Smash raised $426 for cleft lips and cleft palate repair! Shoutouts to 62-bit Gaming’s Gimpyfish for streaming the event. Thanks to everyone who volunteered, attended, and donated!

Get On My Level 2015 (164 Singles Entrants) – 5/31/2015, Toronto, ON, Canada

Get On My Level 2015 was the largest overall Smash Bros. tournament in Canada, with 388 competitors across Melee and Wii U. Both games were capped and both reached those caps weeks before registration closed.
Toronto did a fantastic job of defending against the tyranny of NAKAT’s Ness and Fox, but Quebec proved too much for Poke and BlackTwins’ Mario brothers. All attention was focused on the main stage as BlackTwins delivered Fair spike after Fair spike, Poke Luigi-nado’d everyone who stood in his way, and Holy made it all the way back through Losers bracket with intelligence, fantastic spacing, and more than his fair share of Beep-Boops. By the end of the night, no one was sitting in their chairs.
Other notable events include IceNinja’s mastery of Palutena (and RWBY cosplay), the devastating Captain Falcons of Max Ketchum and Iliad, and Chrim Foish repping Diddy Kong in the game and real life.
