Chicago’s monthly EXPosure series returns with its 9th installation! EXPosure 8 blew attendance records from previous events out of the water with its many out of state players. Game Over 11 (48 Singles Entrants) – 4/22/2014, Boston, MA

Thus far our largest turnout at East End Grille. We had great representation from multiple states including players from RI and Maine coming down to participate.
Dazwa appeared at his first Game Over, and th0rn at his 2nd.
There was a big change in Grand Finals compared to the previous week. Zoso (W) vs th0rn (L) happened two weeks in a row, however Zoso had a solid 3-1 victory in set1 as opposed to losing Game 5 in Set 2 last week.

LADU4 (Look At Dat Up-smash 4) (43 Singles Entrants) – 4/27/2014, Philadelphia, PA

The fourth in UPenn’s flagship tournament series, LADU 4 featured newcomers and veterans alike stomping and upsmashing each other for a shot to become recognized as one of Philly’s finest. Over forty entered melee singles, and despite many strong showings and local upsets, nobody could stop VGBC | Hax’s pure domination as he cruised to another tristate tournament win. As singles winded down, a heavily-contested nine-on-nine crew battle between UPenn and “The World” featured on PhenomenonWorks’s stream. With the Penn team down to their last hopes, one of PW’s very own (PW | Deathnote, a brawl player who’s only recently picked up melee and is rapidly improving) tore through seven stocks to clinch the crew battle for the home team with one stock remaining. Along with several other well-run and well-attended Philadelphia-area tournaments, the success of the LADU series displays the recent revitalization of the Philadelphia tournament scene.

Hall of Melee 3 (32 Singles Entrants) – 4/26/2014, Tilburg, The Netherlands

GameStruck (18 Singles Entrants) – 4/26/2014, Roanoke, Virginia

This was Roanoke’s first tournament in a very long time. Despite Bar Wars taking place on the same day, we had a nice turnout. 2 smashers from Maryland drove over 4 hours to come to this, which was surprising. DP made a great comeback in the losers bracket and defeated Savedge 3-2 twice in grand finals. We look forward to a bigger turnout next time.
