Smash Brothers University 2.5 is a 2-day smash tournament over at Stony Brook, NY which hosted Melee, PM, and Brawl events. The event featured an awesome arcade-type smash setup which was created exclusively for this event. Highlights for Melee include CTRL | DJ Nintendo and Animal’s close set during Winner’s Semis on the top 16 bracket and Soup’s upset over CTRL | The Moon during pools. Civil War VI (55 Singles Entrants) – 4/12/2014, Richmond, VA

Civil War VI officially brought back Smash to its roster in a big way this past weekend, officially adding both Melee and Project M.
Directed by Renegade, a longtime tournament organizer based in VA, CIvil War is famous for being VA’s biggest tournament as well as its unique and awesome Civil War sword trophies!
Arcadia157 and DCEsportsLans directed the tournament smoothly, running Round Robin Pools for PM and 2 Swiss Pairs Pools for Melee which both seeded into a double elimination bracket.
Notable out of state players present included top 10 EVO placers Dr.PP and Hax, as well as Soft.
They were faced by a talented group of MD/VA’s best: including Nintendude, Ether, Chillindude, Cyrain, and Milkman.
Richmond’s very own Milkman and Cyrain placed 7th and 4th respectively, showing just how strong VA’s scene is.
The PM tournament was taken by Chillendude with smart Wolf play over Nintendude’s G&W.
While the overall quantity of entrants wasn’t as high as some recent events at 55, the quality of play and the stakes couldn’t have been higher. Dr.PP’s victory over Hax and Nintendude earned him over $650 as well as his second sword to date (He also won Civil War 4).

Norcal Monthlies #3 (55 Singles Entrants) – 4/12/2014, San Carlos, CA

Norcal TO and MIOM team member Hyuga (with lots of help) ran an experimental triple-elimination bracket to great results and satisfaction from the players. With 55 entrants and 1.5 times as many sets to play, it was definitely a challenge to run, but nevertheless managed to finish in just under 6 hours, indicating that the future may hold more of these in store. SFAT defeated Shroomed 3 times, each with Shroomed using a different character, although he did take a set from SFAT’s Falco. HomeMadeWaffles got 3rd and continued to make the case for being the next best player in Norcal after the SFAT/Shroomed/PewPewU triad.
