BUST: Apex Qualifier (169 Singles Entrants) – 11/22/2014, Boston, MA
What a hype tournament held at Boston University. Being an Apex qualifier, many top names came out for this event. Through many issues with stream and minor delays, the tournament ran smoothly. After pools, there were 2 brackets, a pro bracket, and an amateur bracket. CTRL | DJ Nintendo ended up on top in a hype grand finals against Liquid’KDJ, who narrowly missed out on a bracket reset.
In the middle of all of this was also the finals of the New England Melee Games crew battle series, with a rematch of UMB and MIT from the first semester. UMB took the crown at BUST, getting revenge over MIT’s win at NSA2. Now they move on to Apex to face Tri-state’s best Collegiate Crew.

UM Biweekly 6 (60 Singles Entrants) – 11/23/2014, Ann Arbor, MI
Duck reclaimed the UM Biweekly throne with convincing victories over Abu and KJH x2. Elsewhere in bracket, Kalamazhu was upset by Juggleguy in winners, but brought it back for 3rd place with wins over Lain, Abu, and SonuvaBeach. Despite Smash 4 coming out two days before, the Michigan Melee scene still produced 60+ entrants for the fourth consecutive biweekly; the final installment of the calendar year will be on Dec 7th.

Smash @ Clarendon Happy Hour (55 Singles Entrants) – 11/21/2014, Arlington, VA
At the last Clarendon before the upcoming Clarendon Arcadian, ChuDat, DoH, and Vist duked it out for top-3. Chu, after being sent to losers by DoH, narrowly edged out a 3-2 win over Vist to advance to grand finals for a rematch. He managed to reset the bracket, but his rally was not enough to stop DoH’s repeat Clarendon victory.

Crouching Cancel, Hidden Downsmash (35 Singles Entrants) – 11/22/2014, Santa Barbara, CA
An isolated region 2hrs up from Los Angeles, taking the scenic route up the 101 highway to a venue a steps away from the beach is where the tournament took place. Hugs from LA and Lovage from the neighboring area participated and were expected to take the top 2 spots. However, UCSB’s own Coolkid took down Lovage 3-1 both sets.

HASL Smashfest: Melee + Smash 4 Tournament! (19 Singles Entrants) – 11/23/2014, Huntsville, AL
This tournament was the latest in a series of tournaments by HASL (Huntsville Area Smash League). Melee singles and Smash 4 Wii U singles were the featured events this time around, with side tournaments for Smash 4 3DS singles and Melee teams.
