The Melee action continues this week on the East Coast with Super Nebulous 3 hosted by Hectohertz and MIOM|MattDotZeb. Thanks to a generous campaign, Jeapie, s2j, Lucky, HMW, Alan, and Berkeley Melee Games crew are flying into the tournament. Meanwhile, Hax, DJ Nintendo, and The Moon will be showing what Tri-State is made of and defending their turf. Talented players such as Wizzrobe, Nintendude, Cactuar, Kirbykaze, n0ne, and Zhu will also be dropping by. The tournament doens’t have any of the big 6, but this will only serve to make for exciting close matches and unpredictable results. Along with the fascinating singles/doubles brackets, The Melee Games bracket comes to a close this weekend. If that wasn’t enough, Super Nebulous features an awesome Captain Falcon Round Robin with s2j, Wizzrobe, n0ne, Jeapie, Hax, and “Batman”.

The Tafo Predictions

The slew of Falcon mains makes this tournament an interesting one and will probably skew the results based on character-specific matchup knowledge. There are also no “big 6” members in attendance and the gap between the players is very small.

1. KirbyKaze

KirbyKaze has very favorable matchups against a large portion of the field with Falcons, The Moon and Zhu. However, players such as Hax, Lucky, and Nintendude may give him trouble if they play early in the bracket.

2. Zhu

Another beneficiary of a Falcon-heavy bracket, Zhu can make great strides at SN3 with his veteran experience. Similar to KirbyKaze, Zhu does have weaknesses to Ice Climbers and has been known to feel uncomfortable with the Fox match up as well.

3. Hax

This is probably the largest question mark, given his recent injury history. However, in peak form, he has the potential to be a Top 6/7 player as seen at Do You Fox With It, less than a year ago. He still has his Falcon to fall back on if Fox proves to be too straining.

4. Wizzrobe

Wizzrobe is arguably the best Falcon ditto-er in the country, even to s2j’s admission. He looks really strong against the field, but could also lose to the top level Falcos/Foxes.

5. s2j

s2j has been slightly out of practice, taking a brief hiatus from Socal locals. He did manage an impressive top-8 finish at Sandstorm,  but his inability to edge-guard and stubbornness to not abuse tech chase grabs in the ditto could be his downfall.

5. LuCKy

LuCKy can be a wild card, taking 1st or finishing in 9th at this tournament. Lucky may have the highest peak potential out of anyone in this tournament, but can also just fizzle out randomly in the later stages of bracket.

7. The Moon

Poor Ryan. This bracket looks really tough for The Moon as there are many Marth-slayers in the top player pool. He can squeak by for a higher placing if he manages to fight spacies instead of Sheiks and Falcons.

7. Nintendude

An under the radar pick, Nintendude did finish 9th at Apex 2015, despite having to organize the brackets. It sounds like a broken record at this point, but he can make it far if he has a good bracket.
