Summary
Although PPMD hasn’t made too many appearances, he’s shown incredible performances when given the opportunity, winning Apex 2015 and getting Top 3 at Evo 2015. He modernized Marth with an amazing neutral game, centered around dash dancing and a strong knowledge of footsies. Even though his adversaries complain of his advantages that he can study his opponents, it’s equally as impressive for PPMD to show up and compete against top level competition despite not having regular high-level practice partners.

Ourtage pure outrage
Its honestly hard to rate PPMD, Mango and Hungrybox.
Though i think HBox should be higher than PPMD i can understand the mindset behind this placement.
I hope in the future the panelists are different however…
The picture describes PP perfectly
Its a joke that even among the Melee elite, the Mango fanboy is real. PPMD has outperformed mango at both events he has been to, and the argument that it is a small sample size is drastically outweigher by the fact that he has no high level practice for 6 months at a time. Mango should almost certainly have been 5th with Hbox at 4th and PPMD at 3rd. At this rate i wouldnt be surprised if Mango is placed first just because people are too afraid to not put him there.
PPMD also placed higher than Leffen at Apex and EVO…why are you putting PP at 3rd if he has better placings than Leffen? Your whole argument is dead now. Once you factor in Leffen, the whole PP was good at two tournaments is obsolete. You must factor in more than just Apex and EVO.
I think if PP was concerned with being ranked higher, he would attend more tournaments. No point making an argument for a guy who has attended two all year.
He’s ranked low because he doesn’t attend anything, just the bare minimum number of tournaments to keep his sponsorship.
PP got 3rd at evo. That sounds good, but its actually not. He had close sets with SFAT and HugS, beat Plup who had a broken controller, then went 0-6 against Armada and Hungrybox. Someone who is the fourth best player in the world shouldn’t go 0-6 against the the person who won evo and the person ranked fifth.
Broken controller or not, Plup beat Leffen and Mango. Don’t take that win away from PP. I don’t envy MIOM for having to decide what to do with PP and then dealing with the community’s response. He’s definitely confusing. According to his placements, 4th is lower than he should be. Winning Apex should count for a ton. It’s hard to know how heavily to factor in his lack of tournaments.
Don’t forget plup’s controller wasn’t broken vs. Mango
It was pretty clear he wasn’t in the best mental state at EVO especially considering he warned everyone weeks beforehand he wouldn’t be at 100%. Also, PP 3-0’d Armada in the 2nd set of GF’s at Apex 2015, 3-0’s happen from time to time, I guarantee if they were to rematch it would probably be way closer and PP might actually take the set.
Mango clearly should have been below PPMD, no question whatsoever.
That said, ranking PPMD would otherwise be hard for his lack of appearances- were he not clearly above Mango and Hbox while below Armada and Leffen.
