For the second straight year, MeleeItOnMe is ranking every SSBM Player and counting them down on Twitter (#SSBMRank2014 @Meleeitonme), from No. 100 to No. 1 .
We asked a panel of ~30 players/commentators/figureheads from all across the world to rate the overall level of play for each player in 2014 (From January 2014 –> The Big House 4). This includes evaluating perceived skill in tandem with the tournament results.

Despite living in the Smash desolate state of Mississippi, PikaChad and his diverse cast of characters (Pikachu, Dr. Mario, Link, Falco and Fox) has proven to be a major threat, having victories over Kels, Darkrain, s0ft, and Wizzrobe. Wielding one of the best Pikachus and Dr. Marios out there, PikaChad continues to get solid placements at tournaments both small and large.

The dynamic Falco surprised everyone when he defeated Westballz in his pools at Apex 2014. He has strong matchups against Fox and Falco but tended to struggle with characters such as Peach and Marth. He’s been less active in the second part of 2014, but he can still turn it up when needed.

Remen came out of nowhere to win the Japanese MLG qualifier and a slot in the final 20 at MLG Anaheim. Even though he’s less active in 2014, he has a strong and intuitive Falco that catches his opponents off guard with good reads and smart play.

Hanky Panky, also known as the chief export of Columbus, one of the scene’s few true “secret bosses,” broke out at TBH2 with a 9th place finish and followed it up this year with an even more impressive 17th at TBH4. He hasn’t made much of a national name for himself yet, but has taken sets from some of the very best including Zhu, ChuDat, and HugS. He’s a potential “challenger” for the top tier of mortal peach mains, along with VaNz, Bladewise, Trifasia, and Kalamazhu — but has a style all his own.

The @drivealiveapp handle goes to eggm, not stric!
Would you be willing to open source the ranking process? Ie, how is the score calculated?
In addition what Mark asked, can we get the list of the ~30 people that are responsible for these rankings?
They have panelists score players on a scale from 0.0 – 10.0 (with a granularity of 0.1), average those scores, and sort players by score. Unfortunately it seems like a ton of the panelists failed to submit in time…
Mark, they stated this at the beginning of the page. They based this off of 30 people’s ratings on each individual player and average them out.
I feel like HomeMadeWaffles should be higher. Hasn’t he taken a set from Hungrybox?
That was an exhibition with hbox. HMW has the ability to be a top 50 player but he’s not pushing himself to improve much. This guy when inspired can be a scary spacy player.
