For the second straight year, MeleeItOnMe is ranking every SSBM Player and counting them down on Twitter (#SSBMRank2014 @Meleeitonme), from No. 100 to No. 1 .

We asked a panel of ~30 players/commentators/figureheads from all across the world to rate the overall level of play for each player in 2014 (From January 2014 –> The Big House 4). This includes evaluating perceived skill in tandem with the tournament results.

Summary:
One of the most soft spoken players in the scene, Silent Wolf has the long heralded reputation of being strongly technical. Over the years, Silent Wolf has pulled amazing Top 12 performances at nationals, and yet still falls under the radar by many. His strong technical game along with smarts came together in 2014 as he was able to pull off strong upsets against players such as Mew2King. If you snooze for a little bit against him, he’ll destroy you quickly with his vicious otto-matic combos.

Summary:
Known for several years as the best Doc player in the game, Shroomed opted for a switch to Sheik on the heels of Apex this year, feeling that the limitations of his character might be lowering his ceiling as a player. Though he has yet to match the heights of his 2013 performance, he has nonetheless taken to his new character with aplomb, managing top 20 finishes at every major he entered. Regular top 3 finishes at regionals and weekly events in the second strongest Melee scene in the world have allowed him to build and showcase an Ftilt heavy neutral game and hard punishes which seem sure to translate to more success in 2015.

Summary:
Finishing 13th, 9th and 9th at Apex, MLG and EVO respectively, the game’s best solo Marth main was as solid as ever in 2014. Apart from his strong performance at nationals, PewPewU leapfrogged Shroomed and SFAT in re-establishing himself as NorCal’s finest; he again sits atop the latest edition of the region’s power rankings. He will look to ply his excellent dash dance game and devastating punishes to even greater effect in 2015, when he will no doubt hope to break into the top 10 for the first time and perhaps claim the scalp of a God or two along the way.

The second most distinguished graduate of Norwalk Smash University’s School of Hard Reads, fan favorite Lucky had an excellent 2014. A series of strong placements in majors culminated in an absurdly hype run through Losers’ Bracket at TBH4 which saw him defeat Colbol, Hungrybox, and Westballz consecutively before losing a last-stock battle in game five against long-time friend Mango. With the return of his favorite training partner in the aforementioned Mango, look for Lucky to continue to UpSmash his way into the hearts of Smashers everywhere in the coming year.

Summary:
Apart from being the strongest IC’s main in the world at present, Fly is known for several things. Among them: uniquely brilliant desync technique, highly competitive Sopo play, and to the immense gratitude of stream monsters everywhere, rarely (if ever) wobbling. A regular top performer at SoCal’s revered SSS series, his strong overall performance this year was punctuated by a 7th place finish at EVO. Perhaps even more impressive though was his signature tournament win at The Next Episode. After a Winners’ Bracket run which included wins over Fiction, Hax, SFAT and Westballz, he capped the performance with a decisive 3-0 over Westballz in Grand Finals.
