Woo, I’m finally back in my hotel room after a long day of Melee action. It’s been a crazy Evo for all games, especially in Ultra Street Fighter 4 where traditional powerhouses such as Daigo have been eliminated. In melee, there were many exciting matches that were unfortunately played off stream, but as the dust settled, all of the “big 5” made their way into top 8.

Likes/Dislikes of the tournament
1. Mew2King opting to fully play Marth against Foxes
– I loved how M2K opted to play Leffen with Marth. His Marth does much better against A level Foxes and better than his Sheik.
2. Sloppy 20xx play. Most of the Fox/Falco players struggled with consistency related issues. 20xx will be on hold for better or worse.
3. Upsets and interesting narratives
– Hungrybox may be on his way to conquer his inner demons to win his first national in over 4 years. Is it a high chance? Unlikely, but it’s important to note, going into tomorrow.
4. Choice of bracket matches on stream
– Not the worst, but could have been better
5. Overpriced convention food
– It’s expected. $11 for a cheeseburger/chips
6. Size of the venue
– The Evo venue is amazing, over double the size of last year.

I think top 3 is spot on despite me rooting for M2K, Armada should take this. My question/problem is: Do you REALLY expect PPMD to lose to Fly, Axe or possibly SW? Anything is possible, but I highly doubt he will.
I KNEW Hungrybox could beat PPMD people told me i was crazy but hungrybox fucked PP up, looking at hungrybox versus Mew2king and Mango i know he can beat both of them, Armada is a diffrent story though, maybe if Armada fucks up or something. Hopefully, this confirms that Hungrybox is top 5 (personally i think he is better, i mean he did get 3rd at EVO last year)
Hbox is more top 5 imo than M2K is. If people want to turn the 5 Gods into the 3 Gods (Armada, Mango, and PP) then maybe I could accept that, but otherwise Hbox is still there.
Based on long-term results, Hbox is pretty clearly below m2k/armada/pp/mango. He’s 5th right now, but I expect him to drop to 6th or lower by the end of the year.
