The 2015 summer of Smash has begun, and Memorial Day weekend is set to be a doozy. Combo Breaker, the spiritual successor to the recently-retired UFGT series, will feature several of the Midwest’s best in both the FGC and Smash, including TheMoon, Duck, DJ Nintendo, Darkrain, Dart, Frootloop, ZeRo, and Cosmo. It will be broadcast throughout the weekend by VGBootCamp, featuring commentary by renowned voices D1, TKbreezy, Webs, and FendrickLamar; as well as a top lineup of TOs in the building that includes Juggleguy, D. Disciple, TheHadou, and CEO Jebailey. While many spectators this weekend will understandably be glued to the screens watching Mango, Leffen, S2J, Lucky, and HugS at Australia’s BAM 7, this Midwest regional will be a pretty good offering on the viewing plate as well, especially considering the two won’t share much streaming overlap due to time zone differences.

The Players

Notable Entrants
  TheMoon Duck   DJ Nintendo
   Darkrain
  Dart   Frootloop   ZeRo   Cosmo

Notably missing is Kels, who could not make it for undisclosed reasons despite the tournament essentially being in his backyard in Chicago. With eight SSBMRank-level players in attendance, it’s anyone’s game. Dart will attempt to hold down the fort for Illinois, while Wisconsin native Frootloop drops in from up north. Duck looks to follow up on his impressive 2nd-place performance at both JAB 3 and EGL, and crowd favorite Darkrain will do his best to work the old school magic. TheMoon and DJ Nintendo will be invading from the East Coast in an effort to take the crown away from the Midwest.
