Setups are essential to every Smash major, and for how little they’re documented, they are such an important part of the tournament experience for attendees. For your reference, here are the number of Melee setups that previous majors provided this year:
There will be at least 32 Wii U setups available at TBH5, including all monitors and GameCube controller adapters. This number may go up depending on final turnout numbers, but at the current rate of registration, 32 Wii U setups aligns appropriately with the player-to-setup ratio for both the Melee and Wii U events. For many months, Smash 4 TOs have struggled to crowdsource Wii U setups due to the skewed cost-to-incentive ratio for attendees to bring their consoles to events, the financial burden of buying appropriate monitors in bulk, and the difficulty of finding GameCube controller adapters anywhere. These three problems will be solved completely at TBH5 thanks to Gaming Generations, which is set to provide every piece of equipment necessary to run a full three-day Smash 4 national.
There is one catch. We still need CRT TVs to pair with Melee setups! Although all consoles are provided ahead of time through the support of our sponsors, we still have a need for CRT TVs to complete the Melee setups. If you are able to bring a CRT TV to the event, make sure to indicate so within the appropriate field on the registration page when you register online for the tourney.* CRT TVs must be 15+ inches across the diagonal and able to change inputs without a remote control
* CRT TVs must arrive by 10am on Friday October 2nd (or preferably the night before)
* CRT TVs must stay until at least 5pm on Sunday October 4th
* Attendees who honor their CRT TV commitment will receive a $10 setup discount on Sunday October 4th
* Attendees who renege on their CRT TV commitment will incur a penalty fine of $20 during check-in
We already have plenty of CRT TVs committed by current registrants, but of course, the more the merrier. As in previous years, it will be up to the Melee attendees to create their own amazing tourney experience; leave your consoles at home and just bring those CRT TVs!
If you’re as excited about The Big House 5 as I am, join the social media discussion! This year’s installment is set to take place on October 2-4, 2015 in Dearborn, MI.
Dat one copy of Melee tho.
One to rule them all
Hype!
oh I thought Bad Moon Rising had more than 100 setups for sure?
