Competitive Smash Bros. is experiencing unprecedented growth, and we need to staff up for the busy summer season.
So, how would you like to be a part of this winning team?
OPEN POSITIONS
Commentator
Commentators earn a considerable amount of respect (and sometimes even a paycheck), yet we have a surprisingly low number of applicants for this role. Required skills include confidence, strong diction, and the kind of passion others can see.
We have a very small crew of veteran commentators, and new guard of up-and-comers, but it’s not enough. Management would like to see casting resources triple over the next 18 months.
Event Volunteers
Looking for a position with lots of upward mobility? This is the job for you. Ask any of the great tournament organizers – past or present – and you’ll find they were running pools long before they were running nationals. Volunteering at events is a great way to get exposure, meet new people, and support the community.
Tip: Even if a tournament has not advertised for volunteers, your services might very well be in need.
Bean Counters
Our organization boasts a nurturing environment for creatives, dreamers, artists, and all types of underdogs, but our finance department is desperately understaffed. This posting is an official request for business majors and hard-nosed pragmatists who can help us properly monetize this incredible movement without getting taken advantage of. We need someone on our payroll to identify our vulnerabilities, before Big E-Sports does.
(OK, so there are of course more “open positions” than those above, but I don’t want to wear out the rhetorical device.)
Speaking plainly, I want us to appreciate this incredibly rare situation in which there are more “jobs” than there are “applicants.”
What does this mean for you, John Q. Smasher? Well, 2 things:
1. Speaking to non-playing opportunities, there will likely never be a better or easier time to make a name for yourself. This unanticipated growth is like a runway built just for you, as competition has not yet caught up with the opportunities available.
2. If capable people don’t step up and claim these opportunities, they will just be inherited by the lazy and the greedy. I know each of us can think of an example of this.
For years you’ve been asked to sacrifice for Smash. Now I’m asking you to go out and get yours.

I’m looking to get more involved in the scene, very interested in commentary and volunteering. I’ve done some commentary with Showdown at The Foundry and Do You Fox Wit It. I follow the competitive scene but always thought I could learn more and do more to help
How do we apply?
I would love to get involved in any capacity if there’s some room for a new-comer to the smash scene.
Looking to help the scene look more professional, I used to work on YouTube backgrounds for the large COD teams like Faze and others various ones. But I have always been into smash, and now I think I can really help out. https://www.youtube.com/user/Official2DSamurai ,My youtube, http://official2dsamurai.carbonmade.com/ , my port
Hello, my name is Ian Hendren, and I’m an Alaskan player and commentator. I’ve also sent you a rough draft concerning the Alaskan Smash Scene, and would be extremely interested in being a commentator for your organization. If contacted, I can give you a resume, as well as links to VODs of both my play and commentary. Thank you guys very much for opening the gates to a possible job.
Best Regards,
Ian
