Part 1

  • Button Checking “rules” – proposal
    • Testing out a TV for a short amount of time only at the beginning of the set
  • “Splitting” – What Happened?
    • A lot of extenuating circumstances – stems from a root cause
    • Mentality was a really large issue in all 3 sets
      • Perhaps can’t be regulated by a “rule” but perhaps a code of conduct can be implemented

Part 2

  • What contributed in a bad way
    • TOs must make the rules either consistent or clear
    • Players must accept responsibility for what’s in their control
    • Board Game Rules – if both people played a match or a set then it’s done
    • Relationship between players, TO, streamers, viewers, potential viewers / sponsors
      • Communication / cooperation issues
        • Lack of resources (staff)
      • Interests not aligning between interested parties
    • TOs are not expected to follow the rules listed
    • Enabling motivation (?)
      • Facilitate competition vs invading / punishment
      • No stakes outside of money in case of splits
  • Deconstructing tournaments
    • TO – owns the “code of conduct” and the setting of rules
      • Need to set this “code” beforehand
    • Players – buy into the above “code of conduct” by entering
    • Streamers – should agree to the “code of conduct” and trust the TO to execute against it
  • What we can do to address
    • Enabling motivation / facilitating competition
      • Circuit points
      • Power rankings? Underground power rankings?
      • ELO / SSBPD – Just for fun!
    • TOs and following the rules
      • Revise the ruleset
      • Code of conduct
      • Guide for TOs
    • Seeding and how we do it
      • Seeding of top “X” – maybe top 16 or so
      • No regional matchups in R1, or R2 if it could be avoided
      • No one plays people from the same pool (in the first 2 rounds)

Part 3

  • MBR
    • History lesson
      • Used to be a room where top players discuss strategy and tier lists
      • “Old boys club” feel
      • Wanted to transition to a structure that gives back to the community
        • Created application process to try to identify community leaders
        • Have needed more resources to complete projects
      • Forum model outdated 🙁
        • Not good for “getting things done”
    • Move towards social media? Facebook? Reddit?
      • Moving to a more accessible discussion center
      • We all know what needs to be done, or what we could do
