Forte 2 (227 Singles Entrants) – 12/21/2014, Austin, Texas

Forte 2 showcased the local midwest talent at this Apex Qualifier. Out of state players such as Hungrybox, Axe, Wobbles, and MacD were also in attendance. Javi, Tuga, Aza, and several other powerhouses from Mexico came to show that their country is no slouch. Javi made an amazing run before losing to Hungrybox in game 5 of a highly contested Winner’s semis set. Axe lost in Winner’s Semis to his longtime friend, Wobbles, but made a comeback to play Hungrybox in grand finals. Hungrybox ended up victorious, defeating Axe in a clean 3-0. Although Axe finished second, he won himself a free plane ticket.

Super Smash Sundays 30 (160 Singles Entrants) – 12/21/2014, Walnut, CA

SSS

Westballz was looking for a back to back victories at this edition of SSS. Things were looking promising as he made his ways to Grand Finals from the winner’s side. LuCKy, wanting the coveted plane ticket, made his way out of loser’s, defeating Tafokints, Sung, Fiction, and Westballz to not only take the tournament but also win 500 qualifier points to virtually auto-qualify for the final bracket of Apex.

Northwest Majors VI Regionals (144 Singles Entrants) – 12/21/2014, Des Moines, WA

In a shocker, Shroomed managed to defeat Mew2King in Winner’s bracket. Things were looking great for Norcal as SFAT managed to get to grand finals. However, Mew2King would overcome his early loss by defeating Silent Wolf, Shroomed, and, later, SFAT to take the whole tournament.

Big Beach House (132 Singles Entrants) – 12/20/2014, Howell, MI

Over 150 unique entrants showed up to the first Michigan statewide tourney since before TBH4. SS Merck was in town from Georgia and defeated KJH in quarters, but lost to Beach in losers for 5th place. Moose was bounced from winners in semis but got revenge by beating Kalamazhu in losers finals. And Duck continued to dominate, beating Juggleguy, Merck, Kalamazhu, and Moose to take the tourney.

BOPME 5 (64 Singles Entrants) – 12/14/2014, West Lafayette, IN

What is usually a small local in the Indiana scene, turned into a 64 man tournament this weekend at BOPME 5. Multiple cars from Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, as well as large local attendance, created the largest event ever held by the Purdue Smash Community. Fayettnam 6 (52 Singles Entrants) – 12/20/2014, Fayetteville, NC

In the largest Melee Singles bracket Fayettnam has ever seen, Twitch’s Fox took first place over Stingers’s Peach. Tah. and Upke got 3rd and 4th, respectively.

Nickel City Smash 7 (33 Singles Entrants) – 12/20/2014, Sudbury, Ontario

Nickel City Smash 7 wrapped up the 2014 season in Sudbury Ontario. With co-northern region North Bay once again unable to attend, we still gathered 33 singles entrants for Melee. Orillia’s Rio Gaming team along side Parry Sound came up to compete in each event, however the Melee Singles top 8 and Doubles top 4 reigned from Sudbury. Hex successfully defended his #1 spot, winning Singles as well as Doubles (with Lahti). Look forward to 2015 putting Sudbury players on the map.

The Salty Runback: KC/MO vs Oklahoma (53 Singles Entrants) – 12/13/2014, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

This was a very ambitious tournament featuring the best players from Oklahoma and Texas and Kansas City. KC didn’t bring their full squad but manged to bring down 2 of their top 3 Frizz and Strong Bad (no Darkrain) who both got 5th in bracket. Texas was not firing on full cylinders either as Denti and Lunchables canceled last minute. This was also a day for upsets in PM as Oklahoma Kirby player Gnosis knocked Strong Bad into loser’s and SCG|JZ from Oklahoma knocked Dakpo out of the tourney. Frizz beat Cactuarz 3-2 in Melee Grand Finals with Strong Bad getting 3rd. The top 3 in Smash Wii U were 1. Dakpo 2. Kami 3.Strong Bad. Dakpo and Sethlon won teams in both Smash Wii U and Project M.

Fayettnam 6 (35 Singles Entrants) – 12/20/2014, Fayetteville, NC

Stingers’s Diddy was able to top Kai’s Sonic, winning him his first Wii U tournament. Kai still holds the lead overall, the set count now being 3-2 in his favor. AoD’s savvy Sheik play was able to upset Kai in the Winner’s Bracket, though he came up short in their rematch in Loser’s Finals. Diddy main GQ rounded out the top four.
