For the second straight year, MeleeItOnMe is ranking every SSBM Player and counting them down on Twitter (#SSBMRank2014@Meleeitonme), from No. 100 to No. 1 .

We asked a panel of ~30 players/commentators/figureheads from all across the world to rate the overall level of play for each player in 2014 (From January 2014 –> The Big House 4). This includes evaluating perceived skill in tandem with the tournament results.

Summary:
Mango, otherwise known as “The Kid”, has cemented his previously contentious grasp on tops in the world of Melee. Often battling closely with Armada for the No. 1 spot, the Fox/Falco main walked away from “The Summer of Smash” with 1st-place finishes at MLG Anaheim, EVO 2014, and The Big House 4. He also put on a dominant display during MLG’s East Coast vs. West Coast crew battle, taking Mew2King’s final stock, all four of PPMD’s, and three off Hungrybox for a total of eight stocks – all off of “gods”. Mango’s playstyle focuses on heavy reads, often choosing flashiness over practicality. While he has been known for “not trying” during various periods of his career, Mango appears to have a newfound focus and dedication to the game since his Cloud 9 sponsorship and the birth of his son, “MIOM|Baby”.
