For the second straight year, MeleeItOnMe is ranking every SSBM Player and counting them down on Twitter (#SSBMRank2014 @Meleeitonme), from No. 100 to No. 1 .
We asked a panel of ~30 players/commentators/figureheads from all across the world to rate the overall level of play for each player in 2014 (From January 2014 –> The Big House 4). This includes evaluating perceived skill in tandem with the tournament results.

Summary: | |||||||
One of the most methodical players with a fantastic neutral game, PPMD embodies smart play with his daunting Falco and Marth. His dash dancing, footsies, and counter-poking skills are the best in the business, even baiting patient players such as Mew2King into over-committing frequently in the neutral game. If you ever wanted a better understanding of the game, watch some of PPMD’s videos to follow his thought processes and move selection. He rarely makes a bad decision and was a shoe-in for best Melee player in the first half of 2014. Although he took a brief hiatus to recuperate, expect to see him at the top once again at Apex 2015. | |||||||

Choosing between PPMD and Armada is the toughest decision in the top 8.
PPMD Is a great player, but I believe M2K deserves the spot over him.
And I know mang0 will be #1, but in my eyes Armada is #1. Whenever mang0 wins, it’s a close set. But whenever Armada wins, the set is not close.
not to mention the win/loss ratio against every (active) smasher.
Mango only has a negative record against everybody but Armada (11-9 or 11-10 in sets I believe). Armada cannot say the same with his resume against every active Smasher.
*negative record only against Armada.
good point.
PP should be higher… imo.
