Fight Pitt V (200 Singles Entrants) – 11/1/2014, Pittsburgh, PA
Pittsburgh’s first 2-day melee tournament was a huge success. Even with Mango and Mew2King moving out of the region, 200 players came to Pittsburgh to compete in the biggest Fight Pitt yet. Top 8 consisted of players from Michigan, New England, Tristate, Pittsburgh and Ohio but ultimately it was Florida who took the show. Curse’s Hungrybox took a close winners finals 3-2 with a clutch game 5 rest, sending Smash Studio’s Colbol to Loser’s Final to face Pittsburgh’s hero, Abate. Things were looking grim for Pittsburgh as Colbol took a quick 2 games but Abate seemed to make the adjustments wining the next 2 games though ultimately lost game 5 with an unfortunate SD. Hungrybox then went on to take a convincing Grand finals in a 3-0 fashion.

London Fight Fest 2 (60 Singles Entrants) – 10/25/2014, London, ON

London Fight Fest 2 was a Melee, UMVC3 and USF4 tournament held in London, Ontario. The Melee side was organized primarily by Art “Xelyst” Banaszak.
The Ramada Inn provided a great venue complete with a stage and mic system. There were tons of setups and the tournament ended early, even after delaying the late-bracket Melee matches to share the projector with USF4’s finale.
Sadly, none of the top 4 spots were taken by London natives, but Guru and Deox did go home with 5th and 7th, respectively. Semis and onward were pretty routine except for idea defeating Raynex in Losers Finals, despite Raynex winning 3-0 in their Winners Semis set. Weon-X only dropped a single match the whole tournament, during Grand Finals.

Nebulous Saturday Melee 18 (27 Singles Entrants) – 11/8/2014, New York, NY
This was a weird Nebulous. Hax played on a broken controller, leading to an early loss to G$. On the other side of the bracket, Lou continued his climb of the NY power rankings, defeating Moon 2-0 in marth dittos. Ryan K ‘s Marth beat Lambchops…err… Beer Man. G$ beat Slox in a runback from Justice4. G$ also beat DJ Nintendo, solidifying that G has finally found the consistency that had been holding him back for a long time. In the end, Hax pulled it together to win two quick sets over G$, taking the tournament.

Sudbury Bi-weekly 3 (15 Singles Entrants) – 11/2/2014, Sudbury, Ontario
Sudbury’s Melee scene has continued to develop with bi-weekly events as well as monthlies to attend. The third bi-weekly installment had a field of 15 players, the largest to date. Local top player Hex suffered a loss to Menard in winner’s semi finals. Hex, unshaken, rallied his way back, besting Menard in loser’s finals to set up an exciting set with Lahti in grand finals. Hex was able to pull out the win though taking both sets of grand finals 3-2.

3DS at fight pitt was a series of upsets, Hbox suffered an early loss in pools and had to run through the losers bracket for a rematch with major moses the rosiluma that sent him to losers. Hbox triumphed this time only to lose to duck whose melee play style of high risk high reward managed to carry him to 2nd over the consistent 3rd place finisher at pgh’s 3ds weeklies Genghis Connor. After a bracket reset duck finally lost to rend, a Pittsburgh area bowser player that appeared from no where to take the whole thing

Smashing Grounds 4.9 (44 Singles Entrants) – 10/30/2014, Framingham, MA
Bloodcross faced off against Numerics in Loser’s Semi’s, using a pocket Game and Watch of his. Numerics took the set 2-0, but both games were close. JoeST lost to Sora in WF, but because he had to leave early, Numerics was advanced through LF and went straight to GF. He reset the bracket vs. Sora and nearly took the tournament in the last stock of game 5. However, Sora clutched out the win with a solid last stock and placed first.
