Mayhem 10-18 (102 Singles Entrants) – 10/18/2014, South Pasadena, CA
Mayhem is a tourney host in SoCal by MacD. M2K showed up!!! This time we added Smash 3DS singles hoping to have both communities interact and show everyone a good time. Overall it seems like everyone had fun and the tourney was a success. Next time I hope to add 3DS doubles.
Many of SoCal Melee’s heavy hitters were missing this weekend as they were celebrating baby Mango’s bday. M2K put in work, but all the top 4 felt like/showed he is beatable. We also got to see people like Vidjo and Santiago (aka Lil Fumi) put in work. Sadly Vidjo started having wrist issues and had to forfeit after beating Sung.

Press L+R+A+Start 4 (66 Singles Entrants) – 10/18/2014, Las Vegas, Nevada
Tons of work and organization have finally paid off for Vegas Melee. With the 3DS Smash now out, and with advertising on Reddit and Facebook, we were able to crush this year’s previous record of 44 entrants (made just last month), eventually getting a total of 66 players who entered Melee singles.
With so much representation from all of our skill levels, the amount of hype sets and moments were plenty. But, due to the massive increase in numbers, the tournament ran much later than usual, forcing the spectators out of the venue. Not deterred, we set up a tablet with portable speakers outside to watch the stream of the rest of the tournament, witnessing Saiko’s run through Losers bracket: defeating SK92 in Semis (officially ending his 4-month reign), Bacon in Losers Finals, and SwordSaint in Grand Finals.

BAM: i got 5 on it ♬♬ (59 Singles Entrants) – 10/18/2014, San Carlos, CA
5th installment of the Bay Area Monthlies series. GC|Silent Wolf came out to see what our NorCal scene had to offer, making his way to Grand Finals before falling to MIOM|Sfat. There were multiple upsets made by two surprising individuals. Tang beating 343 and Sfat before falling to Darrell. Then beating Brandon (nemo hoes) and Alan (OGslamminfresh). Nima beat Brandon, lost to Laudandus, then beat Mitchell, making his way to 4th place. Super stacked tournament with lots of fun.

Nebulous Saturday Melee 17 (33 Singles Entrants) – 10/18/2014, New York, NY
Nebulous had NYC’s big 3 all in attendance for the first time in a while. Starting off the day with the finals of The Melee Games’ NYC division, Columbia beat out SBU to advance to the NY Finals. In doubles, the Columbia boys put in work, but SBU’s own Venti + Bubbaking got their revenge in LF, taking 2nd in the tournament to resident teams champs Grab’N’Go. In singles, dizzkidboogie took DJ Nintendo to game 5, in a close Samus v. Ice Climbers set. D1 popped in to commentate, and Hax showed his improvement against Moon, winning WF and GF 3-0 and 3-1 respectively (a marked change after a game5 set last stock last hit set the previous weekend against Moon at Justice 4). All in all, a great day for Melee.

Squid took Winner’s Final set off of Lil Fumi and then Fumi beat Kira to take back a 6-2 bracket reset to take the gold!

Spartan Biweekly #4 (37 Singles Entrants) – 10/18/2014, East Lansing, MI
In our first biweekly of the year, the Michigan State University smashers proudly held Spartan Biweekly #4. After failing to ever break 25 attendees, we had an astounding 37 entrants, including 4 current members of the Michigan PR. After a thrilling upset in WSF with Shady taking down Duck, Michigan’s premier Samus buckled down and ran back through losers to take first, including a 6-0 drubbing of KJH in Grand Finals.

UNH Melee Games Tournamnet (10 Singles Entrants) – 10/18/2014, Durham, NH
This event was a precursor to the melee games crew battle between University of New Hampshire, and University of New England. University of New Hampshire won by 14 stocks. Huge shoutouts to ASL? and Michael Beck for helping us organize a successful event.

Aphro (Rosalina), a good brawl player, was able to take the tourney beating both M2K (Sonic) and Tyrant (Diddy & DDD), heavy favorites going in. Monkey56 played Brawl in Norcal. He has been training his Lil Mac with Tyrant, M2K, Rich Brown, Xzax, and more so it’s no surprise to see him get so far. Can’t wait to see how the future top players of this game shape up!!

Yo Tafo those Mayhem results are a broken link just giving you a heads up. Also for mayhem the vids are just the 3ds tourney, was the melee tourney recorded? If so the link doesn’t reflect that. I know I have a million questions but m2k and macd are FS now? Is FS some kind of socal sponsor or is it Free Saltines the East Coast Project M crew? Kinda uncharacteristic of macd lmao.
FS is apparently the tag of some dude that’s living with MacD and Mew2King. I’m not sure of much details beyond that. I’m not sure if they recorded Mayhem matches. From what I’ve heard, there was lag on the 3DS setups and I don’t think anyone brought a 3DS equipped with a capture card.
