Justice 4 (166 Singles Entrants) – 9/11/2014, Scarsdale, NY

New York’s superregional is back and better than ever. Run by HectoHertz, MattDotZeb, and SirRocko, this one-day no-prereg tournament managed to make RR pools in under an hour, run pools in 3, and run a 48 man bracket in 4. Juggleguy WHERE YOU AT?!
The tournament featured a number of very exciting sets, starting off with Skrach beating Slox in pools. Animal knocked Zhu into losers. Moon played an extremely tight set against Hax in WSF, going to game 5 last stock, before Hax clutched it out. In what hopefully won’t be a pattern for La Luna, Zhu also clutched out a super tight game 5 last stock high% situation against The Moon in LSF. Hax put up a decent fight against Armada in WF, going 3-1, but really stepped it up in GF. After four very tight games, Armada seemed to have worn him down, ending the tournament with a solid victory game 5.
JUSTICE!!!!

2. VGBC | Hax

After a month-long break, Smash @ Clarendon returned with a record breaking turnout. The star of the show was Aglet, the up-and-coming Jigglypuff player who barely made it onto the power rankings in spot #20. On the other side of the bracket, Laijin’s Young Link went up 2-0 vs. DoH before falling victim to a comeback to end his hopes of making it to winners finals. Redd rallied from losers bracket, riding his momentum after a close set with MilkMan to win 9 straight games vs. Aglet and DoH to claim his first Clarendon victory.
The next Clarendon event is on October 24.

Nickel City Smash 5 (25 Singles Entrants) – 10/11/2014, Sudbury, Ontario

NC5

The NCS5 Project M tournament had a lot of intense matches in bracket. Everyone tried their hardest and had an amazing run of it. The two out of city players that made it to top 3 were doing exceptionally well, beating out everyone besides local Hex. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd went to Sudbury, Parry Sound, and North Bay respectively. Hex has single-handedly defended our city from out-of-town players for the last two tournaments in both Melee and Project M. Retaining his spot as #1 and proving his dominance as a player in Northern Ontario.

Fans Unite (15 Singles Entrants) – 10/12/2014, Toronto

Toronto’s Smash scene is unique in the sense that it plays host to every Super Smash Bros. game in the series. The Brawl event at Fans Unite proved that SSBB still has some life left in it, with an incredible grand finals set between V115 and EMG Toronto Joe. These two have a long history of having last hit last game matches, and Fans Unite showed once more how even these two are with Joe resetting the bracket in set 1 using Fox and V115 edging him out in set 2 to take the tournament. I recommend checking out this set to see some impressive high level SSBB play.
