When I first came aboard MIOM back in December, I thought of this space as a small personal blog in which I could express my opinions about Smash related issues. Little did I know that we would grow into one of the most read blogs in the Melee community. With that being said, I’ve realized that the standards that I initially placed on myself earlier cannot be applied today. This is no longer a small niche blog and needs to have higher standards, both in content and grammar. I currently do not have the time to procure 4-5 articles per week along with editing them by myself, so I am looking to you guys in the community to help out.
I will need the following:
Editor:
Responsibilities
– Ensuring that articles are properly edited for grammar, style, and content before they go live at 9am PST
– Brainstorming good topics to write about
– Dealing with MIOM team shenanigans
Skills Desired
– Passable English. Ideally, some previous editing/writing experiences
– Familiarity with the Melee community (this will come in handy for fact-checking articles)
Incentives
As an editor for MIOM, you can advertise yourself freely to a wide audience. In a time in which sponsors are looking at this community, what would be better than to put yourself out there? Minor tourney fees will be compensated for you and the MIOM team will be sure to treat you out to drinks at nationals.
Guidemakers
As you may have figured out, we are working on an overhaul of our website to include character guides for ALL games (Brawl, Melee, 64, Smash 4). We would like people who are strongly proficient with characters to write guides. As an incentive for you, you can advertise your social media/twitter/stream/etc… in the Introduction section as well as have a jump on the rest of the competition to get your guide views/upvotes. For well written guides from the Top players, I will be offering monetary incentives.

Thank you very much,

I’d love to help out with this or anything else you guys are planning. I don’t have any prior experience with editing or that sort of thing, but I’d like to think I’m not too shabby when it comes to grammar and spelling. I’ve also have played Smash 64 and Melee since day one of their release. I live right outside of Philly, so I’ve come in contact with some of the rising east coast players. I may not be well known in the community, yet, but I’m currently working on not only my gameplay, but also have been interested in becoming a commentator. Let me know if I can help. Thanks.
P.S. Not to ride on it or anything, but MIOM is awesome.
I’d get emukiller or Master Raven to do a PM Mewtwo guide. Those guys are insane!
I am a writer, and my girlfriend has a degree in English — both of us are willing to help out!
I also do web design/have a degree in Computer Networking/Information Science, savvy etc. etc.
Recently sent a email submission for the position of editor – much thanks in advance!
Tafo, I love your gahlike puns and it was an honor to serve next to you at the commentator’s booth at PH2. Your suit jacket and shirt were so bomb, I have almost the exact same combo that I wore for work a couple of times, but save for special occasions. I’ll bust it out and give you a shout out for the next major I get to commentate at. Keep fighting the good fight! I’m gonna recruit Bizzarro Flame this weekend to help me with the best Ganon guide of all time, stayed tuned.
Man, I want this job so bad!
