Another edition of the weekly wrap up!
Get On My Level (258 Singles Entrants) – 5/10/2014, Toronto, Ontario
Get On My Level was the Canadian MLG qualifier hosted by TO Joe and the Even Match Up Gaming crew. Streamed by VGBootCamp, GOML had quite a few highlights such as GimR being freed from his day job by reaching over 500 subs on twitch and being the first 200+ man Canadian tournament, as well as being the first 1 stock Brawl national. Most notable was Hungrybox’s sets against M2K and mango, winning an extremely close losers finals 3-2 against mew2king and nearly resetting the bracket against Mango after a huge stock deficit in the last game. Cloud9 takes it’s first win over Curse in the new era of Smash as an eSport.

Mass Madness 12a (75 Singles Entrants) – 5/10/2014, Framingham, MA
An amazing event. We had 22 setups and a great turnout.
Slox came out with a lot of upsets, double eliminating Liquid`KoreanDJ and Zoso, he catapulted himself to 1st place.
Amateur bracket saw new player, Klaps (who will be joining the UMass Boston crew in the fall), take out Captain of the Boston University team, The End, in Grand Finals.
Good way to start the season with the status quo getting shaken up right before the NESS Circuit kicks off.

Darkatma continued his year-long dominance over the midwest, clutching it out against Dart in a back-and-forth grand finals that went all the way to game 5 of the 2nd set. The veteran Deku and up-and-comer Bieber also turned in solid performances, as they defended their St. Louis home turf against such out of state threats as Andale and Matt R.

U of M Triweekly Tournament Series (46 Singles Entrants) – 5/10/2014, Minneapolis, MN
The last triweekly of the season concluded spectacularly with many upsets and 70 total entrants between Melee and PM. In Melee, the previously undefeated team of Aarosmashguy and Chexr fell to 3rd place, while in singles Slayer continued his win streak with yet another 1st place finish. This tournament also marked the breakout performance of two of MN’s newer players: The Way Up to the Sky and HTAG (registered as Midwestballz), with The Way Up to the Sky knocking Chexr out, making this the first time in recent memory that Chexr has ever placed outside of top 3 at an MN tournament.

Norcal Monthlies #4 (39 Singles Entrants) – 5/10/2014, San Carlos, California
Most of Norcal’s heavy hitters did not attend this tournament, with Darrell and Hyprid being the only representatives from the top 10 of the Norcal Power Rankings. Consequently, this was one of the more open Norcal events in some time. Approximately 40 players entered the singles pools and the spotlight shone on a number of lesser know players during singles’ bracket (L, NMW, Gar). Ultimately howvever, Darrell and Hyprid validated their status by taking first and second, respectively, in singles, as well as winning a small round robin doubles pool
