Summary
|
||||
2015 has seen the rise of many new Sheiks — but it wasn’t long ago that Shroomed, not Plup, was the mid tier hero who picked up Sheik in pursuit of something higher. In his second year among the ranks of the high tiers, Shroomed seems to have found his own unique footing: while other Sheiks have pushed the character through expanding her punish game and movement options, he continues to find success through his incredible fundamentals and reads. DruggedFox may advocate for perfection in tech chasing, but Shroomed is proof that getting inside your opponent’s head can be even more devastating.
It’s rare that Shroomed doesn’t make top 8 these days, and he’s proven that he has the skill to get even further, having taken out Mew2King and Mango at Apex and CEO, respectively. An uneven middle of the year can perhaps be attributed to nerves from signing with his new sponsor, Winterfox, but even after taking a few shots, Shroomed always seems to bounce back. He’s proven so with a string of four top 8 performances in a row at HTC Throwdown, The Big House 5, Smash Summit, and Dreamhack Winter, even managing to eliminate the infamous Team UGS at the latter alongside MacD – on European soil, no less. The question now is whether Shroomed can turn the highs we’ve seen glimpses of into a constant threat; if so, expect him to have a lot to yell about in 2016.

Heading image says 25-21, someone used the wrong image source.
One small mistake, Shroomed has played Armada twice. First at INY, second at Dreamhack.

i’m not surprised KaKAI predicted wrong. Shroomed is too underrated to be ranked > axe. I wish people actually did in depth research upon such subject. ’cause they would know that Shroomed placed higher than Axe at TBH5, Apex 2015, HTC Throwdown, DH Winter and Smash Summit. Shroomed made top 8 in all of these, Axe only got top 8 at Smash Summit. Too much EVO 2015 bias. It was bo3 as well ._. Recency bias Shroomed wins also. Shroomed beats Axe 1v1. Idk it seems so wrong. I’m from AZ as well. Sure Axe has a better chance and record against the top 6 but everything else considered, Shroomed has done better. I’m okay with this, but it’s sad kinda. I love Axe though.
“Too much EVO 2015 bias.”
Seriously, the entire summer ranks were terrible because of this. Plup at 7 after 2 good tournaments, Shroomed not top 10 due to a bad EVO, argh.
